Friend,
On today’s date in 1919, Congress passed the 19th Amendment, a Constitutional amendment to grant women the right to vote.
Today, I am proud to be the first woman to represent the Lehigh Valley in Congress, and to serve alongside an historic number of women in Congress.

I’m grateful for the women I serve with, and to the suffragettes who came before me and bravely fought for women’s rights. The 19th Amendment is just one example of the progress a group of dedicated individuals can make, and a reminder that our rights cannot be taken for granted. That’s the reason this famous Margaret Mead quote is appended to all emails I send: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
We still have work to do to ensure equality under the law for all women, particularly women of color and LGBTQ+ women. Reproductive rights continue to be under attack - far-right legislators across the country are attempting to pass hyper-restrictive legislation that take a woman’s decisions about her body and health care away from her. Women make an average 85% of what their male counterparts do, and the gap is even larger for women of color.
I am fighting every day for women to have equality under the law. But I need your help to defend my seat, and continue advocating for women.
On today’s historic anniversary, can you chip in to my re-election campaign to ensure I can keep fighting for equality?
