John, earlier this week, Joe Biden and Cori Bush made a historic visit to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This visit made Joe Biden the first sitting U.S. president in history to visit what was known as “Black Wall Street” in Tulsa until white supremacists burned down this community and committed one of the worst acts of racial violence in American history.
We’re proud that Cori was invited to be part of this historic moment. But we know that there’s so much more that needs to be done to address the trauma Black Americans have endured for too long and dismantle the systemic racism still present in our country today.
That’s why during this visit Cori reminded the President that Black folks in our community of St. Louis are still dying. The police kill us at the highest rate in the nation. Community members and children are murdered at the highest rates.
Cori is committed to making sure the Biden-Harris administration and Congress takes action to defend Black lives. If you want to support Cori as she leads this work, will you make a $5 donation today? We rely 100% on grassroots support to power our legislating and organizing work.
Cori was the first activist from the movement fighting for Black lives to be elected to Congress.
She started out on the streets of Ferguson fighting to save Black lives. That same passion, courage, and fight she had out there is what she’s bringing every day to Congress.
From working to transform public safety in our communities, to leading the call to abolish the death penalty and grant clemency to the people who are on federal death row — Cori has been laser-focused on centering racial justice in her legislative priorities.
This is exactly the kind of bold leadership we need to bring transformative change to our communities and uplift an agenda that’s rooted in justice and equality for all. Can you chip in $5 or anything you can to support Cori’s bold leadership and advocacy in Congress?
In solidarity,
Team Cori
