We write today to mourn the loss and celebrate the legacy of our Community Advisor Linda Thurston, who organized on the steering committee of the Critical Resistance (CR) East Northeast Regional Conference (2001). Her tireless commitment to anti-prison organizing, anti-imperialism and building movement infrastructure provided foundation to many organizations across decades of her work. Her warmth, her generosity with bestowing upon us her personal archive of movement history, and her ability to bring people together will all be truly missed.
"Linda Thurston Talks Community": in Prison Abolition, Political Prisoners and the Building of Critical Resistance
Read this interview Linda did in 2009 with War Resisters League, where she talks about some of her work and movement contributions, including uplifting the need for the PIC abolitionist movement to be reflected by communities most impacted by the prison industrial complex.
