Dear John,
Since the decision of Roe v. Wade in 1973, over 60 million pre-born children have had their lives ended by abortion. All of them were unique individuals who had a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As a Congressman, I have a responsibility to protect and advocate for those rights.
For over 40 years, the Hyde Amendment, which protects taxpayers from having to pay for abortions, has been included in the federal budget.
But not this year. President Biden didn’t include it in his budget request to Congress – something that even his former boss did. The Hyde Amendment enjoys wide bipartisan support and nearly six in ten Americans oppose using tax dollars—your dollars—to pay for a woman’s abortion.
As a supporter of life, I signed on to H.R. 18, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2021, which would make the Hyde Amendment permanent. My faith calls me to stand up against injustice whenever and wherever I can and protect the unborn. Plus, the science shows we are right to defend these defenseless humans who have a heartbeat, ten fingers and ten toes, and their own DNA. We are called to stand and defend the most vulnerable among us who cannot speak for themselves, and it is my prayer that we will soon succeed in winning this debate for our nation’s consciousness.
Meanwhile, the far left is working hard to go the other direction and make taxpayer-provided abortions the norm in our land. You can count on my 100% diligence in stopping this travesty.
