Dear friend,

This Pride, I am excited to celebrate our LGBTQ+ family and recommit myself to the fight for justice.

From Stonewall to Obergerfell, we have seen significant strides towards justice and full inclusion, but the fight is far from over. I am so grateful for the bravery and determination of the leaders who have brought us this far -- and I am looking to them as we continue this work.

Even as we celebrate Pride this year, there are 24 anti-LGBTQ+ bills in state legislatures across the country. Black and brown trans women continue to be targeted and killed at devastating rates. Trans kids are villainized for wanting to play sports. Rates of teen homelessness and suicide in the LGBTQ+ community are unacceptably high.

We must do more.

This month -- and always -- I will continue to fight for safety and justice for LGBTQ+ Americans. I hope you’ll join me.

Thank you,
Nydia
