Hi John,

Last week's shooting in San Jose was the 232nd mass shooting this year. It's only June.

Essential workers -- in food service, child care, and public transportation -- have worked tirelessly for the past fifteen months to stay safe from the coronavirus while putting themselves at risk going to work every day.

These nine essential worker victims masked and socially distanced and kept our country running -- only to be murdered at work by a man with a gun.

American gun violence continues to escalate as the NRA and Republicans ensure that anyone can access a deadly weapon with no questions asked. John, gun reform legislation is long overdue. How many more mass shootings will we let happen before we act?

I'm a proud member of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention caucus, and I've cosponsored bills to close the background check loophole and ban assault rifles. But my strong anti-gun violence stance makes me a clear target for an NRA-funded opposition campaign.

Please, John, if you're with me in the fight against gun violence, if you know the importance of keeping NRA-backed Republicans out of Congress, can you chip in anything you can right now to keep me in Congress fighting to end gun violence? You can contribute here: [link removed]

I'm so glad to be in this fight with you.

Talk soon,
Mary Gay
