I'm so proud that last year I was selected by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon as their 2020 Pro-Choice Champion! It's unbelievable to me, having been fighting for reproductive justice since my college days, that in 2021 a person’s right to choose is still under attack.
It should be pretty simple: Women deserve the freedom to choose what to do with their bodies without political inference. That includes deciding if and when to become a parent. Everyone is entitled to access to safe reproductive services and ongoing care.
But just this year alone, over 500 laws have been introduced by state legislatures limiting abortion access. In fact, Oregon is the only state left without restrictions on abortion. I'm determined to make sure it stays that way!
The people of Oregon know that I won’t back down when it comes to protecting the fundamental right to reproductive freedom. Will you pitch in today to help me keep fighting to ensure reproductive justice for all?

I've been at the forefront of our state's progressive stance on reproductive justice - from supporting passage of our unique Reproductive Health Equity Act, that requires private insurers to cover comprehensive reproductive care, to leading a 21-state lawsuit against Trump's Title X Gag Rule that attempted to strip reproductive funding from clinics across the nation. And I filed an amicus brief in support of full coverage for birth control in accordance with the ACA.
At the start of the pandemic, while millions of Americans were dealing with the consequences of such a deadly disease, Republicans tried using COVID-19 as an excuse to take abortion rights away. We fought that...and won!
But, John, a woman's right to choose is under the greatest threat since before Roe v. Wade. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court recently agreed to hear a Mississippi case that could spell the end, for all practical purposes, of legalized abortion at the federal level.
And we know that without the safeguards of Roe and Casey, what's left of reproductive rights in Republican-controlled states, is severely at risk. With three new conservative justices on the Court, the danger of losing " choice" is more real than ever.
