It’s Pride Month, a time to celebrate who we are, who we love, and the hard-fought victories of the LGBTQ+ community in the decades that have passed on both coasts and between them, since the brave patrons of New York City’s Stonewall Inn galvanized this movement back in 1969, preceded by those courageous ones in the Compton’s Cafeteria riots in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district in 1966.
Pride, at its core, is an act of resistance, and we often use this time to organize and mobilize for the fights that lie ahead of us. One of those battles, passing the Equality Act, stalled on Mitch McConnell’s desk. But with a Democratic White House and Senate, it’s a big part of Democrats’ and President Biden’s agenda.
This Pride Month, will you add your name now in support of the Equality Act? Equal rights based on sexual orientation or gender identity in housing, credit, education, and more can’t wait. ([link removed])
House Democrats passed the Equality Act twice--in 2019 and in 2021 with unanimous support from Democrats. President Biden urged Congress to send the bill to his desk, but Republicans are holding things up in the Senate.
The entire Massachusetts Congressional delegation has signed on as co-sponsors of this critical piece of legislation. Show you’re with them and the LGBTQ+ community by signing on to support the Equality Act today. ([link removed])
