Tell Congress:
"We must pass the American Family Act immediately to address child poverty in the United States. This essential legislation will make the Child Tax Credit’s monthly payments permanent and begin a new era in our fight against child poverty."

John,
President Biden’s COVID relief package, the American Rescue Plan, included a historic achievement: a Child Tax Credit which translates into monthly checks to parents ($300 for children under 6 and $250 for children ages 6 through 17).
Ninety percent of families with children will benefit from the program, and implementing it will cut the country's child poverty rate in half over the next year.
The downside: This monthly tax credit is temporary and will expire in just one year. Together, we are going to fight to make these changes permanent. Add your name! Join CHN and our growing national coalition to demand Congress make the Child Tax Credit’s monthly payments permanent by passing the American Family Act.
If made permanent, the Child Tax Credit could begin a new era in the fight against child poverty. Think of it, we can be the generation that made child poverty a shadow of its former self.
To enact meaningful change, CHN is building national coalitions to demand Congress act! John, do you have 30 seconds to add your name to the petition to demand Congress pass the American Family Act and immediately address child poverty?
As families continue to struggle with bills, rent, and childcare amid the global pandemic, providing ongoing monthly support through the Child Tax Credit will be tremendously effective in lifting families out of poverty.
U.S. Reps. Rosa DeLauro, Suzan DelBene, and Ritchie Torres introduced the American Family Act to permanently establish the Child Tax Credit monthly payments. This legislation will ensure that a reduction in child poverty will not be limited to just 12 months.
The pandemic exposed and worsened serious inequities which have always existed in our country, particularly as it relates to low-income families and communities of color. Congress, now, has a real opportunity to address these inequities and lift children out of poverty. And this really matters―lifting children out of poverty means they will be healthier, do better in school, and earn more as adults. Their future will be brighter, and we will all benefit.
Thank you for all you do to fight for a future that includes all of us, not just the wealthy few.
