Dear John,

Last month’s Israeli military airstrikes on Palestinians living in Gaza captured the world’s attention, as homes, media office buildings, hospitals, and critical COVID-19 health infrastructure were destroyed. The attacks also killed at least 242 Palestinians in Gaza, including 66 children.

These attacks were clearly disproportionate and may have constituted war crimes, but the U.S. government continues to oppose measures that would hold Israel accountable for these and other violations of Palestinians rights.

H.R. 2590, the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act, would change that unconditioned U.S. support for human rights violations.

Sign the petition: Urge President Biden and Congress to pass H.R. 2590 to protect Palestinian children’s human rights.

Introduced by Rep. Betty McCollum, this act seeks to protect the human rights of Palestinians living under occupation by restricting Israel’s use of U.S. taxpayer dollars. If passed, this historic legislation would bar Israel from using U.S. funds for the military detention of Palestinian children, demolition and seizure of Palestinian homes, and further land annexation.

AFSC has been working for years to stop our U.S. taxpayer dollars from being used in ways that violate Palestinian human rights. Today we are teaming up with Daily Kos and Demand Progress to launch a petition in support of this legislation that would do just that–and we hope you will join us by signing and sharing it.

For far too long the U.S. government has enabled Israel’s violation of Palestinian human rights.

Sign if you agree: President Biden and Congress must protect Palestinian human rights by passing and signing into law H.R. 2590.

Thank you for supporting our efforts!

In peace,

Jennifer Bing
