Since taking office in 2014, Attorney General Mark Herring has shown time and time again that he is a leader for civil rights, criminal justice reform, gun control, and much more.

As the “people’s lawyer,” that leadership is exactly what we need in our Attorney General, and it’s why I’m proud to endorse Mark in his reelection campaign.

One of Mark’s first acts as Attorney General was his refusal to defend a Virginia constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage before federal courts. In doing so, he set the tone for the next seven years of his tenure.

Since then, he has stepped up for Dreamers by allowing them to receive in-state college tuition, taken the lead on legalizing marijuana, and expanded expungement opportunities for some criminal cases.

During the Trump Administration, Mark doggedly defended our Commonwealth from numerous bad policies, including:

• Penning a lawsuit against the Muslim travel ban, which resulted in the first injunction against the ban
• Twice defending the Affordable Care Act before the Supreme Court
• Blocking efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and limit women’s access to reproductive healthcare

By now, we know who Mark Herring is. He’s someone who will fight for all of us, no matter our zip code, background, or nationality. That’s the kind of person we need as Attorney General. Show Mark he has your support by making a donation now.
