Remember: hands, face, space, fresh air

Step 3 of the Government's roadmap is still in place. Please remember...
* Meet outside as much as possible
* If you do meet inside, make sure the space is well ventilated – open windows and doors
* Take the vaccine when you are offered it, and encourage others to as well
* Remember that some people are more vulnerable than others to being seriously ill from Covid
* Minimise how many people you’re in close contact with, and for how long
* Get tested twice a week
* Wash your hands and clean surfaces regularly to remove virus particles

Carers Week is nearly here
In Oldham we have approximately 24,000 unpaid carers and over 500 young carers, and this Carers Week we want to say a massive thank you and offer additional support to these local heroes. Have your say on Oldham's ward boundaries
New ward boundary proposals are being drawn up in Oldham – and you can have your say on them.

What is a ward boundary and why are new ones being recommended?
A ward boundary is a way of dividing an area for the purpose of voting in an election. New ones are being recommended as part of an independent review by the Local Government Boundary Commission.

Why are ward boundaries important?
The ward boundaries for your area will help shape where you live – by having the chance to take part in this consultation you can let the Commission know how you feel about what your area should look like.

How can I share my views?
You can take part in the consultation right now by visiting the Boundary Commission website here ([link removed]) .

Did you know aluminium cans can be recycled more than once?
It’s important to recycle your cans, they are endlessly recyclable no matter their size, shape or colour. Did you know…
* During 2020 – 2021, an average of 241.83 tonnnes of aluminium was recycled each month in Greater Manchester.
* If you recycle an aluminium can into a new can, it only takes 5% of the energy than if you made it from the original raw materials.
* 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today.
* Recycling one tonne of aluminium saves nine tonnes of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere.
* Recycled cans are back on a shop shelf in just 60 days.

Please recycle your aluminium cans in your mixed recycling bin at home. To find out more, click here ([link removed]) .

On-street bins
More and more of our on-street bins are overflowing because people are filling them with black bin liners of waste. These bins aren’t for household waste – please either put it in your grey bin or take it to a tip, don't dump it at the side.
