John,

Formosa Plastics wants to build a mega-polluting petrochemical complex on the banks of the Mississippi River in the heart of St. James Parish, Louisiana. Advocates have been fighting for years to stop the planned 14-plant project. Their hard work has delayed construction — but they need help.

Tell President Biden to stop this polluting plastics facility for good: [link removed]

Thanks to a lawsuit filed by the Center and allies, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has suspended the project's federal permits and is now reevaluating them. A properly done analysis will show that the permits should be revoked entirely. The massive complex would further pollute air and water in a predominantly Black community already struggling with toxic pollution. It will also harm wildlife, degrade wetlands, deepen the plastic pollution crisis, and disturb unmarked graves experts believe contain the remains of people enslaved on plantations that once operated on the site.

As commander in chief, the president has the authority to direct the Army Corps to revoke federal permits issued contrary to our bedrock environmental and historic properties laws.

Urge Biden to stay true to his environmental justice and climate commitments by stopping this disastrous facility for good: [link removed]
