Important vote in European Parliament on Freedom of Conscience and abortion ()
[link removed]

The European Parliament is due to vote on an extreme report that seeks to recognise a “right to abortion” and which redefines conscientious objection as a “denial of medical care.”

The report which was introduced by Croatian MEP Predrag Fred Matić on 25th May will possibly be voted on at next week’s plenary session of the European Parliament.

The report which calls on all European Union member states to permit wide-ranging access to abortion is one of the most extreme proposals to ever come before the parliament and if adopted would undermine any remaining freedom of conscience protections for healthcare workers from having to facilitate in abortions.

Officially declaring abortion as “healthcare” and a “human right” would forsake evidence-based medicine and authentic human rights, to be replaced with nothing more than the unethical and unscientific ideological diktats of extreme pro-abortion politicians.

Latest developments on RTÉ bias ()
[link removed]
In recent weeks, while all the biased coverage on the abortion issue has been taking place, RTÉ has been simultaneously running a propaganda ad campaign (on multiple platforms at taxpayers’ expense) about RTÉ’s continued commitment to truth and integrity in reporting the news!

As pro-life supporters, RTÉ does not deserve our trust. They have jettisoned all journalistic integrity when it comes to the issue of abortion. Our response must be to challenge them every step of the way and refuse to be placated by the odd pro-life reference here and there in their reportage.

It’s impossible to have an honest public debate on abortion given the way RTÉ currently behaves. While it was encouraging to see the issue of RTÉ bias being raised recently by several Oireachtas members, it’s critically important that they keep up the pressure and that as pro-life volunteers we add our voices to the calls demanding change in RTÉ.

If you haven’t already done so, please sign the instant e-card below asking the Director General of RTÉ to explain and justify expecting pro-life people to continue paying the TV licence given the station’s shockingly biased coverage on abortion.

After you have signed the e-card, SPREAD THE WORD to friends and family to do likewise.

2020: Highest yearly figure for euthanasia in Netherlands ()
[link removed]

In 2020, 6,938 people died by euthanasia in the Netherlands. It’s the highest yearly figure on record, representing almost 4.3% of the country’s total deaths for the 12-month period.

Euthanasia deaths in 2020 surpassed the previous peak of 6,585 in 2017. The Netherlands legalised euthanasia in 2002, becoming the first European country to do so.

In 2020, the Dutch government outlined plans to extend the current law in order to permit children aged 1- 12 to be euthanised. The law already permitted children aged 12 and over to be euthanised and provision also existed for infants to be euthanised after birth or during their first year of life.

There has been close to a 300% increase in deaths by euthanasia in the Netherlands since 2002. It’s utterly alarming the way the change in the law has changed behaviour and the numbers opting to end their lives.

Don’t let any politician or pro-euthanasia activist ever convince you that ‘restrictive’ euthanasia is possible. Once the right to life is conceded, it’s inevitable that over time respect for human life declines and the numbers opting for euthanasia and assisted suicide start to spiral.
Baby born perfectly healthy after mum told to abort him due to heart defect that vanished after birth ()
[link removed]

Mum Amber Casey was 20 weeks pregnant when the issue of aborting her baby was raised twice with her after it was discovered her baby’s heart wasn’t developing properly.

Determined not to end the life of her baby, Amber continued with the pregnancy and gave birth to baby Orton. After he was born, doctors discovered his heart condition had vanished and hailed it a miracle.

Orton is now a healthy, happy little baby and his mum has decided to talk publicly about the trauma she experienced and the discussion surrounding abortion. Amber who is from Hertfordshire, said she knew something was wrong, but nothing prepared her for what she was told. She is thrilled that her baby turned out to be perfectly healthy.

It has become accepted practice for healthcare workers to raise the issue of abortion in these kinds of situations, oftentimes when it’s the last thing on the minds of parents. It amounts to healthcare workers making value judgements of the value of a baby’s life which they have absolutely no entitlement to do. This is an issue we need to keep talking about in order to empower parents to resist the subtle and sometimes not so subtle pressure to opt for an abortion.
