Dear neighbor,
On Memorial Day on Monday, we honored and remembered those who lost their lives in service to our nation. We are forever indebted to them for their bravery and courage, and that of their families.
I’m pleased to share that we are hiring a Gold Star Family Fellow in our Los Angeles District Office for a full-time, paid fellowship. This fellowship program not only provides an employment opportunity, but also helps my office gain a unique perspective that will help ensure we’re meeting the needs of our current and former servicemembers and their families. Interested Gold Star Family Members can apply now through July 30th here. If you have questions, please call our LA District Office at (323) 651-1040.
As we head into the statewide reopening of the economy on June 15th, it is crucial that we ensure as many people are vaccinated as possible. If you haven’t already, please get vaccinated to protect yourself and your community. To find a vaccination site near you, please click here.
The American Rescue Plan, which Congress passed, and President Biden signed, continues to get vaccines in arms, money in pockets, children safely back in schools, and people in jobs. The plan is working. Since President Biden took office, we’ve created more than 1.5 million jobs and have fully vaccinated over half the country.
The comprehensive stimulus and relief package also extended unemployment benefits, provided direct payments to families, lowered or eliminated health insurance premiums for millions, provided food and housing assistance to those in need, and more. It also continues to provide much-needed relief to small businesses, support farmers and rural communities, and lift up students and educators. For more on how the American Rescue Plan can help you and your family, please visit www.whitehouse.gov/american-rescue-plan.
