Dear Friends,
This past Memorial Day, we paused to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our county.
As our Nation continues to debate important policy issues of our time, we do so freely and peacefully as a democracy.
On January 6th, the assault on our nation's Capitol represented an important wake up call. We must never take for granted our sacred democratic process.
I was there, standing shoulder to shoulder with my colleagues – both Republicans and Democrats. I'll never forget it.
This assault on our nation and our democratic institutions cannot be tolerated. I join my colleagues in both Democrats and Republicans in advocating for a bipartisan January 6th Commission to find the truth behind this assault.
Too many lives have been sacrificed for our nation. We owe it to our heroes and to our children to do all we can to assure our that democracy withstands the test of time, and that our democracy is fully prepared to understand, anticipate, and respond to assaults by enemies both foreign and domestic.
As Americans, we are owed the truth. We can handle it.
Lou
