Hey there,
We'll get straight to the point: Donald Trump is back.
Trump recently announced plans to hit the road early this month with a series of rallies as he gets ready to get back into the political spotlight for the 2022 midterms. According to reports, he has big plans for a modern-day “Contract with America,” similar to the one the Republicans announced in 1994 (when they dominated the midterm elections).
Now, we know the reality here -- Trump won't stick to the script because he can't. We're much more likely to see the same that we've always seen with him: demonizing people of color, lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, witch hunts, and more.
We also know that these rallies are when Trump is at his most dangerous. He whips his radical followers into a frenzy, the media covers it all day long, and Trump uses that coverage to justify more outrage. And on and on.
The scary part is this is exactly the formula he won in 2016 with. Trump is still the most powerful force in the Republican Party. He raises money and drives people out to vote like no other GOP politician can. Even he knows this, which is why he's privately saying he plans to run for president again in 2024.
For now, though, we need to be ready for the candidates he chooses to support in 2022. These rallies are going to be a massive help for any Republican candidate that gets to share the stage with him. We have to prepare to match the GOP's intensity in 2022.
