Act with me to #StopLine3

Act with me

Dear John,

This weekend, over 1,500 people are gathering in Northern Minnesota for massive non-violent direct action to stop the Line 3 tar sands pipeline. Learn more about the Treaty People Gathering and join us on the front lines in defense of treaty rights, climate, and our water.

It’s not too late to join us. Reply to this email to get connected with TakeAction climate leaders and activists who will be on the ground supporting Indigenous leaders.

This pipeline affects all of us. That’s why I’m going up to the Treaty People Gathering, and that’s why we’re bringing the fight to the metro area.

We all live on stolen land, rely on clean water, and need a healthy climate future for us, for our global community, and for future generations. We all need to do everything we can to Stop Line 3 by raising awareness in our communities, pressuring our lawmakers to halt construction, and, for those of us who have the privilege and ability, putting our bodies on the line.

TakeAction Minnesota is holding a metro-area action next week, in solidarity with Indigenous leaders and water protectors on the ground up North. We’ll march to Senator Amy Klobuchar’s office to ask her what side she’s on: climate denial, or life? Our elected officials need to be accountable to the communities they serve. Take action and join us next Thursday in Minneapolis from 5-7 p.m.

Water is life. For treaty rights, for racial justice, for climate justice, for plants and animals, and for future generations, we’re going to Stop Line 3.

Wherever we call home, we need leaders who are clear in their responsibilities to protect life and community – not white supremacy and capitalism. This morning, I woke up to the news that the City of Minneapolis reopened George Floyd Square overnight, without warning. As a resident, I’m disappointed, and feel the violent, continued harm that this action has on my community. We need and deserve so much better from the people who’ve asked to lead us.

If you’re a delegate in the Minneapolis DFL convention, you have until June 8 to submit your ballot for city council candidates. There are folks who are ready to go to bat with and for us, leading boldly towards a future that works for all of us. We need to get them in office.

I’ll see you on the front lines and in the streets.

In solidarity,

Jessie (she/her)
