Assalamu'alaykum John,

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended our virtual town hall on 5/19.

While it's true that email and other forms of electronic media have
allowed us all to communicate at a level unknown to previous
generations, there's still something important and valuable about
sitting down with each other in real time to discuss immediate and
pressing issues. It was such a privilege for us to have an opportunity
to update you in person about where things currently stand for us, to
share our vision for the future, and most importantly, to hear your
thoughts on the job that we are doing.

We especially want to extend our thanks to Nihad Awad from the Council
on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Sufia Khalid from the
Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America (CLCMA), and Afshan
Paarlberg from the Lilly School of Philanthropy for joining us to
discuss our mutually beneficial relationships.

We also want to thank all of you who have so generously donated, not
just during Ramadan but through Shawwal as well. We are exceptionally
grateful for each and every donation we receive, not just because every
dollar amount given to our mission represents another step toward
justice, but also because it represents another person who supports the
work that we are doing.

We recognize that each donation is also a declaration of trust. Our
donors give to us in good faith, trusting that we will use their
financial commitment to make a commitment of our own to pursue what is
good and right. We take that responsibility very seriously, ensuring
that all funds are used appropriately to advance the civil rights of the
Muslim community and to protect our community against the national
security apparatus that makes us, in the words of Dr. Hatem Bazian, MLFA
Board Member, "citizens on probation."

If you weren't able to attend our virtual town hall, please visit our
blog post

for an update.

May Allah (SWT) bring blessings to you all.

With Gratitude,

Arshia Ali-Khan,

Interim CEO & Chief Development Officer
