After Texas House Democrats successfully blocked Abbott’s outrageous voter suppression bill over the weekend, Greg Abbott threatened to strip legislators of their pay.
This kind of temper tantrum is dangerous and represents an authoritarian attack on a key branch of government. House Democrats used every tool at their disposal to block SB7 and Abbott doesn’t have the constitutional authority to withhold their salaries just because he didn’t get his way.
