Tell lawmakers to pass the Prescription Drug Affordability Board

Tell lawmakers to pass the Prescription Drug Affordability Board

Dear John,

Minnesotans like you have sent over 1,000 messages to legislators via TakeAction demanding a Prescription Drug Affordability Board. Our powerful, unified voices have Big Pharma spending thousands on ads as lawmakers make their final negotiations.

That’s our signal that it’s time to get louder.

Email your legislators right now and tell them to pass the Prescription Drug Affordability Board in 2021. If you’ve already contacted your legislators, this is the moment to do it again. Make sure to customize your message for maximum impact.

Here are just a few stories we’ve heard about how high drug costs impact Minnesotans:

  • “My baby needed Pulmicort meds for the nebulizer and with new insurance (no co-pay), it was going to be $300/month. I couldn’t pay and felt immense guilt.” - Melody, New Brighton, MN

  • “I had to ration medicine while working full-time at a retail employer before I could get on my employer plan. I paid for my antidepressants out-of-pocket for a few months and suffered withdrawal symptoms for days at a time.” - John, Minneapolis, MN

  • “My daughter has persistent moderate asthma that requires preventative prescription drugs. After insurance, I am paying over $100 out-of-pocket for just one of her prescriptions. Don’t get me started on EpiPens and the run-around to get affordable Rx.” - Heather, Brooklyn Park, MN

In their ads, Big Pharma is trying to convince Minnesotans that they must charge outrageous prices to fund research and development. As we’ve seen firsthand with the COVID-19 vaccine, that’s a lie. Most new medicine is developed through publicly funded research.

Tell your legislators that we’ve had enough. Our elected leaders have a responsibility to #ChangeTheRules and ensure Big Pharma can no longer hold our lives and health for ransom.
