Friend,
It’s no secret that Donald Trump is profiting off the presidency. He does it in plain sight, with no shame or apology. We know he’s doing it and we know he’s making millions — but we don’t know how much, and it’s time we act to prevent such a clear conflict of interest and abuse of public office.
That’s why I introduced the Disclosing Official Spending at Presidential Businesses Act, a bill that would require speedy public disclosure of any official expenses at any privately held company that is owned, either in whole or in part, by the president, or a trust controlled by the president.
Let me cut to the chase: If you support holding this president accountable and stopping his efforts to profit off the presidency, add your name to become a citizen cosponsor of my bill now.
With no push for accountability from the GOP, the president has refused to cut ties to his family businesses. He’s broken long standing precedent — not to mention basic norms and ethics — by keeping his tax returns and other financial information secret, so we can’t see the full extent of his conflicts of interest or overseas business dealings.
Here’s an example. We recently found out that Trump’s resort in Scotland has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Air Force so pilots can stay there during refueling stops — meaning taxpayers are paying top dollar and putting money into the pockets of his business. If you believe the Air Force just randomly decided to start spending nights at a luxury golf course in Scotland, well, Donald Trump has a rapidly depreciating asset to sell you...
The corruption is in plain sight, friend. This president’s grift and unconstitutional money-making operation has to end, and it’s up to us to make it happen. With my new bill, we can.
Add your name right now to join me in demanding that President Trump disclose how he’s using taxpayer dollars to prop up his businesses.
The office of the president is not meant to be a money making opportunity, and yet Trump has spent his presidency lining his pockets. It’s time to hold him accountable.
Thanks for standing with me,
Adam
