Neil Waggoner is a Sierra Club Senior Campaign Representative
and leads the Ohio Beyond Coal team.
Neil and I will discuss the fight to repeal the OVEC coal
bailout portion of House Bill 6 (HB6). While the nuclear
bailout portion of HB6 was repealed earlier this year, the coal
bailouts continue.
Thanks to HB6, Ohioans will pay for the OVEC plants with
their monthly electric bills through 2030. Customers could pay $700
million in fees over the decade. The Ohio Consumers
Counsel puts the cost to Ohio ratepayers at $232,718 /
day.

plants and protect ratepayers and the health of every Ohioan.
