John,

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tour the San Diego VA Medical Center alongside Mayor Todd Gloria and other veterans' advocates. We met with doctors and hospital officials about how they're using the additional resources provided by the American Rescue Plan to support veterans impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our visit was covered by the San Diego Union-Tribune, and their reporting is jam-packed with details about how the American Rescue Plan is delivering for our veterans. I hope you'll take a moment to read the coverage here.

Even though there's light at the end of the tunnel, many veterans are still struggling with health care access and unemployment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The American Rescue Plan provides billions of dollars for health care, housing support, and job retraining with a fundamental belief: No veteran should be without the best possible health care, a place to live, or a good job to put food on the table.

This is yet another example of the long-term relief being provided through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. We're making significant progress in getting America back on its feet, and I want to extend my gratitude to you for everything you've done to help me continue working on behalf of our community.

As always, if you have thoughts on this issue or others, please feel free to respond directly to this email.

Thanks,

Mike
