LGBTQ+ Youth - Share your story here!
Hey John,
Storytelling has long been connected to social justice and advocacy. That's why we've used stories for years to move policy-makers and change culture.
This month, for Queer & Now, we're asking YOU or YOUR FRIENDS to contribute to MyStoryOUTLoud, a digital storytelling project dedicated to uplifting the narratives of LGBTQ+ youth of color and young people living with HIV.
Across the nation, trans youth are under attack and in crisis. Yes, there are bigoted politicians targeting trans youth for their own hateful agendas, but there are also thousands of people supporting these policies out of pure ignorance. This is where storytelling can make such a difference.
Whether your story becomes an audio file like Maxine's, or a moving social media post like Khouri's, or something we haven't even come up with yet, know that ALL experiences deserve to be authentically told, documented and shared. We know people who are not typically invited to tell their stories hold an immeasurable wealth of knowledge about our communities, our movements, and our lived experiences. Telling our stories to disrupt anti-trans and anti-queer narratives, especially now, is an act of resistance.
