For many hardworking families -- an unexpected medical expense can mean missing rent, going into debt, or not being able to put food on the table. That's not right.

That's why I introduced the UPDATE Act -- a bill that prevents patients from receiving unexpected medical bills due to out-of-date provider listings.

I want to hear your thoughts, Michiganders -- Do you think these changes are a step in the right direction?

Our tangled healthcare system is hard enough to navigate, and updates like this are critical to making it easier for patients to receive affordable, quality care.

Small details, like an insurance company not updating when providers are removed from an in-network list, can have major consequences. A family's financial security should not be compromised due to an unexpected, preventable medical bill.

We can make health care affordable and accessible for all. Can you take a moment to fill out my team's health care survey and share your thoughts with me?
