Friend, this last month was a reminder of the grave challenges our democracy faces.

More state legislatures advanced bills to suppress voting. House Republicans removed their caucus chair because she dared to reject Trumpian lies about the 2020 election. And Mitch McConnell blocked the creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6 insurrection.

Yet in the face of these obstacles, you showed your determination to fight for the policies that will give our country the fairer, stronger, and brighter future it deserves. You stood with me in advocating for the American Families Plan, for legislation to codify Roe v. Wade, for a more humane criminal justice system, and so much more.

Many of you also stepped up to aid the Democratic nominee in the critical final stretch before a New Mexico special election -- and I'm proud to say that last night, Melanie Stansbury held a key seat for our party. She won by more than Joe Biden's margin in her district, demonstrating that we win big when we proudly run on our policies.

So let's keep pushing forward this month. Let's be fearless in the face of the lies and extremism the other side puts in our way. And let's continue to advance the plans and ideas that we know will lift up families across Virginia -- and across the country.
