High school and college seniors are graduating and preparing for their next chapter and we are so proud of all they’ve accomplished during this challenging year. This year’s grad celebrations have been both virtual with some in-person activities, which is a marked contrast to last year when only virtual was possible. Hope looms near!
This year, our annual spring fundraiser, Sip & Celebrate, was entirely virtual. We took the opportunity to focus on the accomplishments of our students with a cheerful and breezy happy hour. Our students shared their experiences on their paths to higher education, and we were able to raise $265,000 thanks to our generous donors and event sponsors.
We also looked for new ways to celebrate our students from afar as our school partners began to resume in-person schooling. A local morning show, Good Day L.A. agreed that our students deserved to be spotlighted for all their hard work and featured many of our students on the Standout Grad segment.
As we continue to celebrate all of our graduates, we are gearing up to launch summer programming to combat summer melt. While we look forward to the return to in-person learning in the fall, we also anticipate that the school day may look different from times past and are embracing the opportunities that the pandemic has unearthed. For instance, virtual tools are here to stay, which allows us to reach out to students who may not have been able to access us before. Whatever the fall may bring, we remain unwavering in providing support to our students to build brighter futures.
