According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Stacey Abrams is favored to win in a gubernatorial race matchup against GA governor Brian Kemp -- with a 48% favorability rating to Kemp's 44%.
Abrams is exactly the kind of leader we need in a battleground state like Georgia -- but as a powerful Black woman with a nationwide network of allies, she's also the GOP's primary target this cycle.
Republicans are doing everything they can to undermine Abrams. Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy tried -- and failed -- to get the upper hand on Abrams by questioning her categorization of Georgia's voting restriction as “Jim Crow in a suit and tie.” Defeated Senator Kelly Loeffler launched a “voter integrity” group to rival Abrams' Fair Fight. And Brian Kemp even signed a massive voter suppression bill to help himself defeat Abrams next year.
But that's not the worst part, John. Trump is now propping up Jody Hice, a Big Lie Republican, to control Georgia's elections in 2022 by endorsing his campaign for secretary of state.
Now more than ever, our country needs leaders dedicated to upholding our democracy. We need progressive women like Stacey Abrams who know that every American deserves representation.
