www.inequalitymedia.org [www.inequalitymedia.org]Dear John,
A little over a year ago, the world watched in horror as police officer Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd in broad daylight. Before that heinous act, Chauvin had at least 17 complaints lodged against him — but never received any discipline beyond two letters of reprimand.
Why? The egregious protections outlined in his police union’s contract.
Our latest video breaks down how police unions have abused collective bargaining to shield their members from accountability — and why their unchecked power urgently needs to be addressed. [[link removed]]

Look, I was Secretary of Labor. I’m in favor of protecting unions, and ensuring that stopping the abuses of police unions does not become a stalking horse for attacking public sector unions generally.
But shielding officers from accountability is not what unions were created to do.
We can no longer allow police unions to block accountability under the guise of collective bargaining.
Thanks for watching,
