Our entire democracy is now at risk. That’s the stark warning in a new letter signed by over 100 scholars of democracy urging Congress to act save our democracy.[1]
Angered over Trump’s 2020 election loss, Far Right legislators in 48 states have introduced at least 389 bills that seek to restrict the right to vote – and several of them have already been signed into law in key states.
A vote on S.1, the For the People Act, a bill that would neutralize these state bills attacking our democracy, is imminent this month and we will be delivering signatures to the Senate NEXT WEEK urging them to pass it – but yours is missing!
Even though Trump is no longer in office, the threat from him and his closest allies still remains. We were horrified by the Trump insurrection on January 6, and now, one of his closest aides – disgraced former General Michael Flynn – recently endorsed the idea of a military coup to overthrow the Biden administration![2]
We cannot become complacent at such a pivotal time in our nation’s history, and we must act NOW to save our democracy.

The threats to our democracy are real and growing. Unless we speak – and act – forcefully against Trump’s Big Lie, our vote, our elections, and indeed our democracy itself is at risk.
