But momentum against the use of this tech is building - just last month Massachusetts was the first state to pass state-wide restrictions, and now allies are telling us that New York state is considering banning it.

If we can force a win in a major state like New York, it could pave the way for national change.

When it comes to video surveillance and facial recognition, New York City is one of the worst places you can be. Over 20,000 cameras track New Yorkers as they transit through the city on a daily basis.

Law enforcement across the country claim that facial recognition makes us safer. But the algorithms this technology relies on is prone to false matches. Just last year, a Black man was wrongly arrested and charged due to a bad facial recognition match.

Now the tide is starting to turn on the need to ban this technology. 20 states are actively considering bills that would restrict or ban this racist software, and partners in NY say they are very close to tipping the balance. With your help, we can make sure that happens.
