I think you’ll want to know about an interesting phone call Commonwealth Foundation just got from the Heritage Foundation.

I think you’ll want to know about an interesting phone call we just got from the Heritage Foundation.

You know Heritage, right?

I think it's fair to say Heritage Foundation is one of the most prestigious national public policy think tanks in America.

It’s the institution that presidents from Reagan to Trump have turned to for big ideas and great talent.

And, something you may not know, Heritage Foundation was the impetus for the creation of Commonwealth Foundation.

Anyway, back to the call.

The Heritage Foundation called to let us know a Commonwealth Foundation staff member has been selected for one of its most prestigious honors: The Heritage Foundation Distinguished Alumni Award.

The award is no joke. This is only the fourth time that Heritage Foundation has given this award. The prior winners are Senator Tom Cotton, SBA List CEO Marjorie Dannenfelser, and Judge Neomi Rao.

This year’s winner? Charles Mitchell.

This is simply remarkable. That a CEO of a state think tank now joins the ranks of the other honorees not only speaks to Charles’s work and leadership, but also to the institution you helped build and are continuing to build.

Charles is the is the epitome of what Heritage looks for in their award winners: a man of character and integrity who knows how to take big ideas and get them done.

I came to work for CF specifically because of Charles. It is hard for me to qualify the level of respect he has earned from our staff, lawmakers, donors and other major influencers.

He is a CEO that can cast a vision and also execute on it. Charles is also one of the best listeners I have ever met – a “soft” skill that has helped us achieve extraordinary results. It also, in my opinion, makes him a spectacular boss.

If you don’t know me or Charles well, this may elicit an eye roll. But I’m from Philadelphia and, thus, a very poor sycophant. My admiration for him is real and deserved. And I know yours is, too.

But I would be remiss not to include you in the victory lap we are all about to take.

You gave Charles, and all of us, a platform to go out and achieve.

Until a few years ago, I had no idea places like the Heritage Foundation and the Commonwealth Foundation existed. I was in the business world and assumed public policy took care of itself. Boy, was I wrong.

Because you have helped build our institution and our allies, we now have people like Charles using their gifts and talents to ensure our state and country remain a land of freedom and opportunity.

And I am so deeply, deeply grateful to you for that. And I know Charles is too.

He will probably be a touch embarrassed that I sent this email…which, aside from bragging about the great work he does, makes this all the more fun.

So please join me in congratulating and victory lapping our fearless leader. If you'd like to congratulate Charles yourself, please click here ([link removed]) to add your name to the card we're preparing for him.

Charlie Mike (Continue Mission),

Jennifer
