John,
I'm currently in Pittsburgh, where I just announced Victory Fund's first endorsement for the 2022 cycle: we're standing with Malcolm Kenyatta as he runs to be the first out gay man and first out LGBTQ person of color elected to the U.S. Senate. You can watch the full endorsement here.
Malcolm is a close member of the Victory Fund family. He's been active in LGBTQ politics since he was 11 years old, working as a community advocate and political consultant before running for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 2017, when we endorsed him. He won a tough five-way primary, defeating several homophobic attacks from his opponents, and won the general election in a landslide, making history as the first out Black person elected to the Pennsylvania legislature.
As Malcolm himself said, having diverse voices in the room means we have better policy. It means we can flip a U.S. Senate seat long-held by anti-equality forces. It means we can elect someone dedicated to addressing all forms of inequality, who knows how to address working-class issues because he's lived them. We need more members of our community at the table - and we need your help to win. Split a donation between Victory Fund and Malcolm's campaign TODAY!
In a state where pro-equality forces often found themselves drowned out by bigotry, Malcolm has cut through the noise to ensure LGBTQ voices and issues get the airtime they deserve. Despite opposition, he has introduced multiple pieces of legislation fighting for LGBTQ equality and told his coming out story on the House floor. He has stood up for trans youth, fighting to block anti-trans legislation. He has stood up to bullies from Daryl Metcalfe to Donald Trump, ensuring that LGBTQ kids know their lives and stories are valued.
Malcolm knows how to fight tough battles. He knows the power of LGBTQ representation, and the value of speaking out. Malcolm can win this race - and make history in the U.S. Senate. I'm so excited we're standing with him - and I hope you'll stand with us. Rush a donation to Malcolm's campaign and Victory Fund to ensure Malcolm wins!
Let's get to work,
Sean Meloy
