Imagine what the past year would have been like without access to the web. That has been the reality for billions of people.

While internet access is a lifeline for many, almost half the world has yet to log on or send their first email — never mind rely on the web to keep working and learning as offices, schools, and universities closed their doors.

It's never been more clear: Access to the web should be a basic right.
