Friend,
I want to wish a happy Pride Month to all LGBTQ+ Virginians!
While this is a time for celebration, it’s also a time to recommit ourselves to making Virginia a better, safer place for LGBTQ people. Virginia’s new Democratic majority passed the Virginia Values Act in 2020, which makes it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in housing, employment, public accommodations, and more. But there’s much more we can do to lift up LGBTQ Virginians.
When I was President of the Fairfax NAACP, I learned the importance of building intersectional coalitions. We worked with local LGBTQ advocates when fighting for racial and economic justice policies. That’s because racial and economic justice is LGBTQ justice. LGBTQ Virginians face barriers when it comes to gender-affirming care, mental health, housing security, public safety, and more. Their unique challenges should be considered in every issue we tackle.
I’m running for Lt. Governor so I can bring my perspective as an organizer to Richmond. But I need your help to win the nomination and beat the GOP in November.
We are still over $2,200 away from meeting our daily fundraising goal. If you want to elect a Lt. Governor who will be a bold voice for LGBTQ justice, I hope you’ll consider donating $3 to my campaign today.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Pride Month may be in June, but I’ll fight for LGBTQ+ Virginians every day of the year.
In solidarity,
Sean Perryman
