Hi John -- I wanted to follow up on the email below with two facts you need to know about the Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action, the Republican-allied groups spending $24 million to restrict voting rights.
First, Heritage cofounder and far-right activist Paul Weyrich was very clear about his views on democracy: "I don't want everybody to vote," he famously said.
Then there's "expert" Hans von Spakovsky, who Mother Jones calls the mastermind behind Heritage's national voter suppression operation. Civil rights hero Congressman John Lewis once said of von Spakovsky, "It's like he goes to bed dreaming about this, and gets up in the morning wondering, 'What can I do today to make it more difficult for people to vote?'"
Now the Heritage team has powerful advocates like Mike Pence, Donald Trump, and Mitch McConnell on their side, and they've already gotten 26 laws passed in 12 states this year. But we have you, John -- can you pitch in today to help us fight back against the far right's deceitful voter suppression strategy?
