Today marks the beginning of Pride month. While we celebrate decades of progress advancing equality for millions of people, the LGBTQ+ community is still facing attacks from the Far Right.
In 2021 alone, more than 80 bills attacking the transgender community have been introduced in dozens of states across the country, as the Far Right seeks to demonize the trans community with unfounded threats designed to incite fear among its constituents. And just today, on the first day of Pride month, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis chose to sign into law one of these bills attacking the trans community.
In Congress, the Equality Act – legislation that would help prevent many of the attacks taking place at the state level – has passed the House but is stalled in the Senate. We need you to help pressure your senators to act!
The Equality Act is a landmark bill that would help ensure that LGBTQ+ people nationwide have consistent federal anti-discrimination protections – protections that currently cover people based on their race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and religion.
It is because of these very protections that the Equality Act has become a favorite target of far-right members of Congress like Ted Cruz, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Josh Hawley, Rand Paul, and others who continue to spew lies about what it would do in order to further incite fear and anger in their constituents.
But our voices outnumber and are stronger than theirs – join us in speaking out in support of the Equality Act!

The Far Right is doing everything it can to prevent this bill from becoming law and thousands of its supporters are contacting their senators to try and stop this bill.
