Can you act for science today?? ? ? ? EPA ALERT:
In the middle of a global health crisis, Trump's EPA is rushing to finalize a rule to exclude lifesaving scientific research from decisions about how best to protect our health and planet. We only have 7 days left to fight back before the comment period closes. ? SIGN NOW [link removed] ? ? ? ? ? The Trump administration is trying to UNDERMINE the EPA's ability to use science in the middle of a public health crisis. We only have until 5/18 to speak out. Fight back now ? [link removed]
I'm horrified, friend.
In the middle of the global COVID-19 crisis, Trump's EPA is rushing forward with an anti-science rule that would LIMIT the EPA's ability to use public health data to protect the air our families breathe, the water our children drink, and spaces our communities depend on.
The science that EPA Administrator Wheeler is trying to bury is the very research that shows toxins and pollutants are actually BAD for our health ? and in some cases, deadly.
Limiting access to data about pollution's impacts will further entrench environmental racism as communities of color are already the most likely to live in or near areas with high concentrations of pollution. These injustices will only continue if the EPA is forced to make decisions about how to regulate polluters without access to scientific data.
The COVID-19 crisis has shown us so clearly to protect our health, government officials must make science-based decisions. How we respond right now will determine IF we can stop this attack on science.
We're aiming to collect 5,000 signatures from LCV supporters like you before the comment period closes next week. We haven't heard from you yet ? and it only takes a minute to add your name:
Will you join us and submit an urgent public comment to the EPA? Make sure the public record reflects just how important science is to protect our health. GOAL: 5,000 signers ? [link removed]
Trump's suppressing science rule is a Big Polluter's dream come true. It's exactly the kind of stunt that Big Tobacco tried to pull for years ? attempting to block scientific studies that found nicotine to be addictive and smoking to be cancer-causing.
The consequences of this attack on science will be devastating and will put communities on the front lines of systemic racism and environmental injustice at an even greater risk. We should be doing everything we can to protect our families in the middle of this global crisis, NOT undermining the environmental protections that communities rely on ? especially communities of color and low-wealth communities already on the front lines of toxic pollution and hit hardest by the current crisis as well.
To put it simply: We cannot keep our communities safe and healthy without science. If enough of us speak out before the deadline, we can show EPA Administrator Wheeler that the public is paying attention and we can save science at the EPA. For the sake of our childrens' health, we need you to join us today.
We only have ONE WEEK left to speak out. Tell the EPA: We must expand, NOT restrict, the use of science to protect our health and planet ? [link removed]
Thank you for fighting for science.
