Quick update -- this Thursday, June 3 at 8pm ET/5pm PT, we’ll be holding an all-hands-on-deck National Activist Call for activists all over the country, and we’re hoping to see you there.

This call’s going to be a big one: We’ll be kicking off for July's Deadline for Democracy Recess, which is the most important campaign yet to tell senators -- Democrats and Republicans alike -- that the American people are showing up to demand a democracy for the people, and we need them to act urgently now, no excuses.

This call will include everything you need to know to start planning for the Deadline for Democracy Recess:

  • We’ll be hearing from Indivisible Co-Executive Director Leah Greenberg about why passing the For the People Act is so critical and how the window to take action is closing.
  • Our Policy Team will share the inside scoop on what’s happening in Congress and we’ll get a special update from our teams in West Virginia and Arizona about their work to pressure their senators.
  • We’ll close out the call with a special section from the Indivisible Training Team that will go into detail about how to take action during recess.

This moment is critical to show massive grassroots support for the For the People Act and for getting it done now, without letting the filibuster get in the way. From now until the August deadline, we need to stiffen Democrats’ spines, up the sense of urgency across the country, and continue to call out Republicans’ efforts to destroy our democracy. P.S. -- In case you missed it in this morning’s Washington Post, 100 leading democracy scholars issued a powerful new statement warning that our democracy is under dire threat, and that Democrats must pass the For the People Act and eliminate the filibuster if necessary to get it done. Also, Democrats in the Texas legislature had to go so far as to break quorum and walk out to stop state Republicans from passing another sweeping voter suppression bill -- today, they’re also begging Congress to take action.
