In just the past few days, and over a holiday weekend no less, thousands of NORML members answered the call and contacted their Representatives in support of the only bill ever passed by a chamber of Congress to repeal the federal prohibition of marijuana.
However, if we’re going to see federal reform anytime soon we must increase the pressure even more.
For context, last year the MORE Act was not taken up for a vote in the House until December 4th of 2020, just 30 days before the end of the congressional session. Unfortunately, it was not given consideration in the Senate in the final month of the year.
We cannot afford to wait that long again -- the House must move swiftly and we must redouble our efforts to ensure they do.
We have three important asks of you, all with the same goal of building more people-powered pressure:
Moving legislation to end prohibition through both chambers of Congress will be no small undertaking, but we’ve never let long odds deter us before.
The road ahead is still sadly far too long, but for the first time ever, there is truly light at the end of the tunnel.
So, please, contact your Representative right away and then share our alerts with your friends, family, and neighbors. With one voice, we will rise and demand of our elected officials that now is the time to legalize America.
