Dear John,

Last week, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reported there is a 40% chance the world will reach a climate tipping point within the next five years. Simply put, time to act on climate is running out.

As your U.S. Senator, representing Oregon in Washington DC, I know how important it is to act now on climate justice. That’s why I am working hard to help pass the American Jobs Plan, a federal recovery package that will lower emissions, transition us to a clean energy economy, and put Americans to work in family-wage paying jobs to help get us there.

As chair of the Senate Finance Committee, I am focused on ending tax subsidies to Big Oil and other polluters. My Clean Energy for America Act would reform our tax code to remove fossil fuel subsidies and instead provide incentives for carbon-free electricity, clean transportation, and energy-efficient buildings.

Join me this Friday, June 4th, at 1:30pm for an OLCV Virtual Town Hall to learn more about our once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in clean energy, jobs, and justice.

When you sign up for the Virtual Town Hall you can submit a question you’d like me to answer. Those selected will be notified and get to ask their questions live at the town hall. I know the team at OLCV is starting to select questions today so get yours in right away.

The actions we take (or don’t take) within the next year will determine our planet’s climate future for many generations. A majority of voters want to see the U.S. take bold action to mitigate the worst impacts of the climate crisis and transition our country to a clean energy economy.

Join me on June 4th to learn how together we can make the U.S. a global climate leader.

Sincerely,
U.S. Senator Ron Wyden
