Last week, the Chamber held its 2021 Arlington County Board Candidate Forum. This businesses-themed forum featured a moderated discussion with the four candidates running for Arlington County Board: current County Board Member Takis Karantonis (D), and challengers Mike Cantwell (I), Chanda Choun (D), and Audrey Clement (I).

The questions covered solutions for promoting growth, COVID-19 recovery, housing development, and office vacancy. The candidates offered insights into the government’s role in supporting retail and small businesses and how they would achieve this business support if elected.

The session also covered how the candidates want to see Arlington continue to apply more flexible processes innovated during the pandemic, such as Temporary Outdoor Seating Areas, relaxed signage rules, and online public engagement.

Watch the full program on the Chamber's Facebook page or read the Chamber's press release.

Call for Host Venues for Chamber Events and Meetings

Are you excited about the return of in-person programming? The Chamber is looking for hosts for its Business after Business networking series and Board of Directors meetings as they transition back to in-person venues.

Business After Business is a popular event that occurs from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The purpose of Business After Business is to provide a monthly opportunity for Chamber members to meet and mingle with one another, both socially and professionally. The series is also a great promotional opportunity for the hosts.

Chamber Board of Directors meetings are lunchtime events and are a great way to showcase your space to up to 50 of Arlington’s top business leaders. As the host, you will also have the opportunity to give a formal welcome before the meetings starts.

For more information on becoming a host, review our Business After Business Guidelines and Board of Directors Meeting Guidelines and contact Olivia McKay, Operations Manager, at [email protected] to inquire about available dates.

Are you interested in making great connections and getting referrals from fellow Chamber members? Then one of the Chamber’s LeadShare groups may be right for you. We will be starting a third LeadShare group which will meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month from 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

This new group is in addition to the current LeadShare groups that on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday and Thursday of each month. Groups are limited to one person per industry, so act fast before your industry slot is gone!

If you are interested in any of the groups, please contact Membership Engagement Manager, Andrea Aiello at [email protected] for more information.
