The CDC is soliciting comments to update their 2006 guidelines ([link removed]) for HIV testing. The comments will give the CDC guidance on best practices for HIV screening in clinical settings and linkage to treatment and care. Please comment on what you believe from your personal experience would be the best approaches and how the guidelines can be changed to benefit those living with HIV, and those getting tested. The CDC is specifically looking for suggestions on revisions, edits, and new additions; contemporary issues and new evidence; implementation barriers, challenges, and lessons learned.

A federal judge in Atlanta ruled to temporarily block HB481, also known as the “heartbeat bill ([link removed]) ”. The injunction will prevent the bill from becoming law until it makes its way through the courts. While delaying the predicted enactment of January 1, 2020, an uphill battle remains. In spite of this, we want to ensure folks that abortion is still legal in Georgia.
SisterLove stands by its belief and commitment to the reproductive justice and freedom of all women and people of reproductive capacity. This bill is an unconstitutional assault on reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy. All Georgians deserve access to quality health care, including access to abortion, and other reproductive health services. We stand with our Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice Coalition partners; the doctors, lawyers, and clergy who testified against this bill; and the brave Georgians who have shared their stories. Although this is a victory, the fight is not over. Tell your legislators that you support reproductive freedom for all Georgians. Call the Governor’s Office and voice your opposition to a frivolous and illegal burden for folks seeking to access care.
More information to come as the story develops.

Girls Need Love Too: Centering pleasure for women and femmes
Patriarchal and heteronormative standards for sex, procreation, and pleasure have for too long denied the sexual desires and needs of women and feminine-identified people. This workshop will discuss ways in which these systems have historically and currently restrict and commodify the sexual expression of women and femmes, specifically women of color. Participants will be asked to share their personal experiences and identify unique ways to conduct these conversations in their own communities and networks to help create space for women and femmes to express their sexuality and experience pleasure in their relationships. We will also discuss different prevention mechanisms.

This is an unprecedented opportunity for people living with HIV, advocates and nonprofits to have their interests recorded in the city's Consolidated Plan (ConPlan). The ConPlan will define the next 5 years of housing plans for the city. Major HOPWA modernization funding cuts happen within that timeframe. The ConPlan is due in November and it will be submitted with or without our voices. Please attend if you can.
