Hi Friend, I wanted to make sure you saw this.
Last night, House Democrats walked out of the Capitol to block SB 7 -- the worst assault on voting rights since Jim Crow. When Republicans tried to silence our communities, and cut our legislators out of the process, our leaders stood up for Texans by resisting and by breaking quorum. And because of them, Texas’ democracy is still intact today.
Friend, Texans deserve a whole lot more leadership like that. And we’re going to work every day for the next 17 months to kick Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, and Texas Republicans out of office in the 2022 elections.

Hi Friend,
Have you seen the news from last night yet?
House Democrats chose to break quorum and walk out of the Capitol -- something that hasn’t been done since 2003. And by doing so together, they killed the GOP’s hateful, anti-voter Senate Bill 7.
Texas Democrats have spent all session fighting these voter suppression measures, using every tool in our toolbox. But Republicans haven’t been honest negotiators.
Yesterday, there were dozens of Democratic members ready to ask questions and raise points of order to slow SB 7 down. But Republicans played dirty -- they collected enough signatures to end debate on the bill. They wanted to cut out our representatives -- they wanted to silence us.
Republicans have shown us time and time again that they have no interest in even following the most basic procedures that govern our policymaking. So our Democratic champions in the legislature used the last tool available to them, and denied Republicans the quorum they would have needed to pass the bill. Our Democratic lawmakers chose to fight back with everything they had, rather than be complicit in the GOP’s sham vote and shady processes.
That’s the leadership Texas needs -- and next session, we need to grow our numbers in the House. When we do, we can set the agenda, pass meaningful legislation, and make positive changes for Texans in our communities.
And after yesterday, especially, we need to show Republicans just how committed we are to this fight for our democracy. Last night was a big win, but this is far from being over. And we need you with us.
Will you rush $7 to the Texas Democratic Party today?
