John,
My name is Aishi and I’m a Sunriser from Berwyn, PA. I want to talk about something personal to me and my family: India’s ongoing COVID outbreak.
Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve only heard my mom say a series of five words when talking to her friends in India: “I’m sorry for your loss.” Whenever I come downstairs to eat, I hear a frantic, hopeless tone in my mom’s voice — one that breaks my heart every time.
India accounts for 30% of the world’s COVID deaths and half of the world’s cases. It’s a crisis of unimaginable proportions. But I know the power of our movement — and I believe that if enough of us pitch in, we can show up for India during this devastating moment.
That’s why I’m asking you, John: Can you chip in $5, $25, or whatever makes sense for you to help our hub get oxygen and medical supplies to COVID patients in India?

Recently, I went to visit my favourite “uncle,” who used to be the most joyful man. After his mom passed away due to government inaction and lack of COVID supplies, I saw his smile fade. That smile that was once cemented on his face was gone, his eyes instead evoking a suffering like I’d never seen before. I felt hopeless.
As a movement, we fight for a sustainable, livable future for all. And right now, the people of India need our help. Many of us have family in India who are suffering or empathize with the pain that this crisis is causing. But even when I feel the most hopeless and doubtful, I am reminded of the people power of this movement — and it gives me hope.
If you can, please chip in to support this critical fundraiser. 100% of the proceeds will go to OxygenforIndia, who will provide medical supplies and oxygen to COVID patients.
Thank you,
Aishi, Sunrise
