John, I’m outraged.
Nasrin Sotoudeh — a prominent human rights lawyer in Iran, who was facing
criminal charges for defending women’s rights — has been sentenced to a prison
term totaling 38 years and 148 lashes.
This sentence is abhorrent. Nasrin has dedicated her life to defending human
rights.
Now, will you help defend Nasrin and sign Amnesty’s petition demanding she is
released immediately?

We need your help right now — to directly ask the Supreme Leader in Iran to free
Nasrin Sotoudeh. It might seem like an ambitious goal.
But I’m confident that together, we can get Nasrin back to her family. We’ve
done it before, and we’ll do it again. Take action and add your name right now »

Nasrin was targeted in the past — but when Amnesty supporters worked together,
back in 2013, we were able to secure her early release from prison. We need to
work together again.
Nasrin has been handed down the harshest sentence recorded against a human
rights defender in Iran in recent years. This sentence keeps Nasrin separated from her husband and two children — and
prevents her from being able to carry out her important work as a human rights
lawyer.
Iranian authorities are already feeling pressured to release Nasrin, with
hundreds of thousands of people around the world speaking up for her. Add your name to the list and speak out for Nasrin right now »
