John,

I hope you’ll join me this Memorial Day remembering the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.

My father was a Captain in the U.S. Army and received the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.

I remember the words Vice President Mike Pence spoke in his Memorial Day address a few years ago:

“Americans can claim the distinction of being a freedom-loving people only if we love and cherish the memory of all those who gave their all for our freedom.”

John, I couldn’t agree more.

And I hope you feel the same way.

Our nation would not be what it is without the generations of selfless men and women who paid the ultimate price for you and me.

From Bunker Hill to Belleau Wood, from San Juan Hill to Saipan, from the Coral Sea to Kandahar…these men and women gave their lives for a vision…the hope of a better America…the land of the free.

It’s a vision you may share too.

And I don’t want their sacrifice to go to waste. That’s why we must do everything we can to preserve the America those men and women believed in, fought for, and many ultimately gave their lives to.

Every day I’m inspired by these selfless heroes. And today, I’m especially grateful for their sacrifice.

I want to make sure future generations get to enjoy the America these selfless men and women gave their lives for.

That’s why I’m so passionate about defending the timeless principles that make America the greatest country in the world.

The best “thank you” we can give to honor these men and women is to carry the fire.

Carry the fire of fighting for our West Virginian conservative values.

Carry the fire of individual freedoms over government control.

And carry the fire of working every day toward a better America.

John, I’m so thankful to have you on my team.

I hope you’ll take a moment today to reflect on how blessed we all are.
