Hi John --

We need to be clear about something heading into the 2022 elections: The Republican-led voter suppression efforts around the United States are racist. And now, there's new data from Texas to back that claim up.

Analysis of SB 7, the sweeping voter suppression bill that's currently under consideration in the Texas state legislature, shows that the number of Election Day polling places in largely Democratic parts of major Texas counties would fall dramatically. This effect would be most pronounced in districts that are primarily home to voters of color.

Audits of the 2020 election have shown zero evidence of widespread voter fraud. Elections in America continue to be free and fair as they always have been. So, it's clear that this newfound fear of voter fraud that Republicans are suddenly concerned with is nothing more than a cover to disenfranchise people of color.

Texas Republicans know that the more diverse their state gets, the more likely Democrats are to finally turn Texas blue -- so they are trying to shrink the electorate and keep people from having their voices heard.

Racism and xenophobia have always been a part of American politics, but we haven't let that impede our progress towards a more perfect union. 2022 is not the year we let white supremacy win.
