You're a valuable part of Team Bowman, and you're a critical part of our success as a campaign. I can't thank you enough for the support and love you've extended to Jamaal and our progressive movement.
We have a goal to raise $7,500 over emails just like this one by the end of today. And to be completely transparent with you, I'm a little concerned we're not going to get there this month — we're still 16% away from our goal.
Look. Our campaign is now heading into a period where we're transitioning into more involved work in advance of the 2022 midterm elections — and we could really use your support.
We started planning for Jamaal's first run for Congress in June 2019, around a year before the primary election in June 2020, and we're planning on following a similar timeline for this upcoming election.
But unlike last election year, our opponents understand what our movement is capable of, and they're going to come after us full-force.
In 2020 — when Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib had their first re-elections — many folks questioned whether or not they'd be able to win again. All three faced challenges from Republican and political establishment insurgents who raised millions of dollars and unleashed attack ads. And while all three managed to win re-election, the fact still remains: 88% of congressional races are won by the candidate who raises more money.
That's why the number-one thing our team needs right now as we navigate this transition into our first re-election campaign is a strong financial base. Having a strong financial base will allow us to plan ahead as we figure out how much to invest into sources like digital ads, organizing, and voter outreach — all while continuing to grow our base of supporters and hold our seat.
